Cheever-Davis Papers, 1761-1778.

A framed passport (oversize) issued to William Downes Cheever and David Sears, signed in 1778 by Benjamin Franklin, Arthur Lee, and John Adams, for passage to Great Britain. Also, a photocopy of a resolve by the Massachusetts Bay Colony for the arrest of Cheever and other Loyalists (1776), and a certificate of good character issued in behalf of Cheever by the Council in 1778, and an inventory of the estate of Lois Lee of Salem, Mass. (1761).
